Dr Sanjeev Bedi, Professor, Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering, University of Waterloo, ONT, CANADA, was appointed Visiting Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department from 11 April to 11 May 2016 to teach/guide UG, PG students and faculty and staff. He has more than 30 years of experience in Teaching and research in the area of CAD, CAM, 5 axis machining. He has more than 100 high citation research publications in different forums. He has a long association with Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology spanning decades. He has guided PhD research and UG/PG projects at TIET. He has taken dozens of expert lectures and conducted short term workshops and training programs, including an international industrial training program in Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology for Canadian students. He has mentored specialised Masters Programs in CAD-CAM and UG programs in Mechatronics besides strengthening the traditional UG and PG programs. In this particular stint he was involved in the mentoring of UG courses like Engineering Design – 2, Geometric Modeling and Analysis, Capstone Project and PG research work. He was also as expert advisor in the setting up of the new CNC machining lab setup with over 1 Cr investment in the central workshop of the University.
