Undergraduate Postgraduate PhD

Eligibility for BE/BTech programs other than BTech (Biotechnology):


  • has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational subject OR Minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST candidates) marks in a Diploma recognized by AICTE or a state board of technical education of at least 3-year duration.
  • has secured at least 72 aggregate marks (54 marks for SC/ST candidates) in JEE (Main)-2018. This clause shall not be applicable for the PGN, GoI, JKM, JK students & N-E students as mentioned at clause 1.3).
  • Or
  • has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 75% marks (70% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational subject.
  • has secured at least 60 aggregate marks (42 marks for SC/ST candidates) in JEE (Main)-2018. This clause shall not be applicable for the PGN, GoI, JKM, JK students & N-E students as mentioned at clause 1.3).
  • Or
  • has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 80% marks (75% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational subject.
  • has secured at least 45 aggregate marks (30 marks for SC/ST candidates) in JEE (Main)-2018. This clause shall not be applicable for the PGN, GoI, JKM, JK students & N-E students as mentioned at clause 1.3).
  • possesses a good moral character.
  • is a citizen of India.
  • is born on or after October 1, 1993 (5-years relaxation in age for SC/ST/PH candidates).

The admission shall be made on the basis of merit of score in JEE (Main)-2018.

The first five toppers of the recognized Boards of India in the examinations held in 2018, shall be given direct admission to the first year of UG program, with the condition that they must have appeared in JEE (Main)-2018 but the entrance test score of such students shall not be required for admission. They shall be allocated branch of their choice. Such candidates shall have to furnish proof of being toppers from their respective boards. Tuition fee shall also be waived off for such students provided they maintain minimum CGPA of 8.50 in subsequent semesters. Only toppers having first five positions among science stream (Non-Medical) at 10+2 of a respective board shall be considered.


B.Tech Biotechnology


  • has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry and, Biology.
  • has secured at least 20% aggregate marks (15% for SC/ST candidates) in NEET-2018.
  • Or
  • has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 80% marks (75% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • has secured at least 15% aggregate marks (10% for SC/ST candidates) in NEET-2018.
  • possesses a good moral character.
  • is a citizen of India.
  • is born on or after October 1, 1993 (5-years relaxation in age for SC/ST/PH candidates).

The admission shall be made on the basis of merit of score in NEET-2018.

Eligibility for M.E./M.Tech programs:


Admission to all the M.E./M.Tech. programmes shall be made on the basis of valid GATE Score in respective discipline. First preference will be given to GATE qualified candidates and who have obtained at least 60% (55% for SC/ST/Industry sponsored) marks in the aggregate in the qualifying examination from a recognised University.

After offering seats to the GATE qualified candidates, for seats remaining vacant (if any), the admission will be made on the basis of following method:

  • In M.E./M.Tech. programs offered by CSED, MED, CED and ECED. The seats remaining vacant, after offering to the GATE qualified candidates, shall be filled by conducting offline entrance test. Admission to M.E./M.Tech. programme shall be open to candidates who obtain at least 60% (55% for SC/ST/Industry sponsored) marks in the aggregate in the qualifying examination from a recognised University.
  • In other departments/schools, remaining vacant seats shall be filled on the basis of merit prepared by giving 30% weightage to 12thmarks and 70% weightage to B.E./B.Tech. marks (upto end of pre-final year). Overall minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST/Industry sponsored) in B.E./B.Tech. shall be required to be eligible for admission.
  • Or
  • In case M.Sc. is qualifying exam, the seats remaining vacant shall be filled on the basis of merit prepared by giving 50% weightage to B.Sc. marks and 50% weightage to M.Sc. marks (upto end of pre-final year). Overall minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST/Industry sponsored) in M.Sc. shall be required to be eligible for admission.
  • Qualifying degree for M.E./M.Tech. programme in various disciplines is as under:

    M.E. – CAD/CAM Engineering/ Production Engineering/ Thermal Engineering

    B.E./B.Tech. degree in Mechanical/Production/Industrial/Mechatronics/ Automobile/ Marine/ Petroleum/Chemical/Metallurgy/Heat power/Aeronautical Engineering and Equivalent.

    M.E. – Infrastructure Engineering

    B.E./B.Tech. in Civil Engineering, B.E./B.Tech. in Infrastructure Engineering

    M.E. – Structural Engineering

    B.E./B.Tech. degree in Civil Engineering.

    M.E. – Computer Science & Engineering*

    B.E./B.Tech. degree in any discipline of Engineering OR M.Sc. in Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science/ Electronics/ Physics/ Operations Research/ Information Science/ Information Technology OR MCA OR Equivalent

    M.E. – Information Security*

    M.Tech. – Environmental Science & Technology

    B.E./B.Tech. degree in any branch of Engineering or Technology, OR M.Sc. in Chemistry/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Life Sciences (including Botany and Zoology) / Atmospheric Sciences.

    M.Tech. – Chemical Engineering

    B.E./B.Tech. (Chemical Engineering/Technology, Environmental, Biotechnology, Pulp and Paper Technology/Polymer Technology/Metallurgy/Materials/ Mechanical/ Ceramics Engineering or allied discipline) or M.Sc. (Applied /Industrial Chemistry) with Mathematics upto B.Sc. level.

    Note: Candidate who has passed Section B of the Institution of Engineers (India) or Grade IETE and has three years of professional experience in reputed organization are also eligible for admission to M.E./M.Tech. programme in respective disciplines.

    Sponsored Candidates with 55% marks in the qualifying examination are eligible for admission. Such candidates must have a minimum of two years of full time work experience in a registered firm/ company/ industry/ educational and research institutions/any Government Department of Government Organization in the relevant field in which admission is being sought. The employer in the sponsorship certificate must indicate that the fee will be borne by the sponsoring organization and the candidate will not be withdrawn before the completion of the programme. The fee of the sponsored candidates shall be paid by the sponsoring agency from the company’s bank account.

    Candidates who are appearing in the final exam of the qualifying degree are eligible to apply. Such candidates have to furnish following undertaking at the time of document checking/’In-Person’ counselling.

    “I am applying on my own risk and responsibility as my final result of the qualifying exam has not been declared by the University.

    I do hereby declare that I do not have any backlog paper in any of the previous semesters (Years) of study of the qualifying exam and also, I do not expect any backlog in my final exam.

    I assure you that I will produce the proof of passing of my qualifying examination with the minimum percentage of marks required on or before December 31, 2018, failing which my admission shall stand cancelled and I shall not claim any right on any count whatsoever.”


MCA (3-years duration)

Bachelor degree of minimum 3-years duration in any discipline from a recognised University with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST) in aggregate. Mathematics must be studied at 10+2 level or at graduation level.

Mode of Selection: Admission will be made on the basis of merit of 10th, 12th and graduation (upto end of 2nd year, minimum of 65% marks are required). Overall minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST) in graduation shall be required to be eligible for admission.

Candidate must attach mark sheets of 10th, 12th and all the marks sheets of Graduation upto end of 2nd year along with the printout of applications.


MCA Lateral Entry (2-years duration)


Recognized bachelor degree of minimum 3-years duration in BCA, B.Sc. (IT/ Computer Science) with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST) in aggregate. Mathematics must be studied at 10+2 level or at graduation level.

Mode of Selection: Merit list will be prepared on the basis of above said criteria of MCA (3-year) and admission will be made according to this merit list.


M.Sc.


M.Sc. (BIO-TECHNOLOGY)

Candidates with bachelor's degree with minimum of 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in graduation from recognized University under 10+2+3 pattern of education in Physical, Biological, Agricultural, Veterinary, and Fishery Sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering Technology, 4-Years BS (Physician Assistant) Course, Medicine (MBBS) or BDS.

M.Sc. (CHEMISTRY)

Recognised Bachelor’s degree in Science of minimum 3-years duration (10+2+3 year’s pattern) with 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate and Chemistry as one of the subject at the graduation level.

M.Sc. (BIO-CHEMISTRY)

Recognized bachelor's degree with minimum of 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in graduation under 10+2+3 pattern of education in Chemistry or Biochemistry or Genetics or Bioinformatics or Biophysics or Biotechnology or Molecular Biology. In addition to that candidates having degree in MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, B. Pharm, B. Tech (Biotech) shall also be eligible for admission in MSc Biochemistry programme.

M.Sc. (MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTING)

Recognised Bachelors degree of minimum 3-years duration with 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate and Mathematics as one of the subject at the graduation level.

M.Sc. (PHYSICS)

Recognised Bachelor’s degree in Science of minimum 3-years duration with 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate and Physics as one of the subject at the graduation level. The program shall have following three specializations:

  • Nuclear Science and Technology
  • Modern Electronics
  • Materials Technology

 

M.Sc. (Environmental Science)

Recognised Bachelor’s degree in Science of minimum 3-years duration with 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Biophysics.


M.A.


M.A. (ECONOMICS)

BA/B.Sc. in Economics/ Mathematics/ B.Com./ B.Statistics/ Bachelors in Business Administration - BBA/ Bachelors in Business Studies- BBS/ BE/ B.Tech. with 50% (45% for SC/ST) at Bachelors level.

The program shall have following two specializations:

  • Money, Banking and Financial Markets
  • International Business

M.A. (PSYCHOLOGY)

Recognized Bachelor degree in Psychology (Honors) or Arts/ Science/ Allied Sciences such as Home Sciences/Nursing/Human Development/ B.Tech of minimum 3-years duration with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) in aggregate and Psychology as one of the subjects at graduation level. Candidates who have appeared in the examination of the final year shall also be eligible. However, for such candidates, admission shall be provisional.

The program shall have following two specializations:

  • Clinical Psychology
  • Counseling Psychology

Post Graduate Diploma(Professional)


M.A/MSc in Psychology. Candidates having M.A. in Psychology with specialization in Counseling & Clinical Psychology will be given first preference for admission. Candidates must have 55% marks in aggregate at Masters and Graduation Level. Those who have appeared in the examination of the Masters final year shall also be eligible to apply. However, for such candidates admission shall be provisional.

Mode of Selection: 
The admission will be based on the marks obtained in B.A./ B.Sc and M.A Psychology. For provisional admission, marks available up to final year of M.A/ M.Sc shall be considered. 
Candidate must attach mark sheets of 12thand all the marks sheets of Graduation and of Masters up to 3rdSemester along with the printout of applications.


Candidates having any pending backlog in the Masters level shall not be considered for admission. Percentage of marks secured at the end of 3rdsemester of Masters shall only be considered even if the candidate has completed the Masters.

Relaxation in CGPA to 7.00 on a 10-point scale or in marks to 65% for the minimum eligibility conditions may be permitted for candidates with a B.E./B.Tech. degree or equivalent who have a minimum of 3 years of professional and/or research experience in the area in which the admission is sought. However, candidates admitted with B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent qualification will be admitted for Ph.D. after successful completion of eight Masters level courses as suggested by the PhD Admission Committee of concerned Department/School, within a period of two years from the date of admission. A minimum CGPA of 6.00 on a 10-point scale should be earned in the courses prescribed by the concerned Department/School.

Relaxation for appearing in the Entrance Test may be given by the University to those candidates who have qualified GATE/NET(UGC/CSIR).

Only those candidates who successfully complete the course work within one year of admission and with a minimum CGPA of 6.00 on 10.00-point scale shall be registered in the PhD programme.

Every candidate will be required to submit research proposal, duly recommended by the Supervisor(s), after successful completion of the course work (December 31 shall be taken as date of completion of course work for odd semester and June 30 shall be taken as date of completion for even semester). The minimum time period to submit the research proposal shall be one semester from the date of admission and maximum time allowed to submit the research proposal shall be one year from the date of admission.

Research proposal will be submitted to the concerned Head of the Department/School. In case of non-submission of proposal within one year, DoRSP on the recommendations of the Supervisor and Head of the Department/School may grant an extension for a maximum period of six months.

If the candidate fails to submit the proposal even during the extended period, her/his admission will be cancelled. In case the proposal is rejected by the URB, she may resubmit it within next six months starting the date of meeting of URB failing which her/his admission will be cancelled.

Notes:
(a) Part-time candidates are required to submit the "No Objection Certificate" from their parent organization/department/employer stating that the candidate is permitted to pursue studies on a part-time basis and that the candidate’s official duties permit her/him to devote sufficient time for course work and research.
(b) In case of FN candidates, Research VISA endorsed to TU is required.

  • A candidate seeking admission to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy must have obtained M.E./M.Tech./M.Phil./MCA/M.Sc./M.A./M.B.A./C.A. or equivalent with minimum CGPA of 6.00 on a 10-point scale or 55% marks in aggregate where marks are awarded OR GATE/NET(UGC/CSIR) qualified.
  • Candidates with B.E./B.Tech. degree or equivalent with excellent academic record (minimum CGPA of 9.00 on 10-point scale or 80% marks in aggregate) may be considered for admission.
  • Part-Time studies leading to Ph.D. degree are permitted for professionally employed personnel. Part-time studies leading to Ph.D. shall also be permitted to persons working in Institutions with which a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed for research purposes. Such a candidate must be in employment at the time of admission and be engaged in professional work in the area in which admission is sought.
  • Admission of a Ph.D. candidate in a department/school other than his/her basic background: Suitability of a candidate is the purview of admission committee, if a candidate qualifies the test and interview then he/she should be allowed to pursue Ph.D. Program. However, the admission committee may recommend additional courses for the candidate to clear.
  • Candidates shall be admitted on the basis of merit of Entrance Test and Interview to be conducted by the Institute. The candidates who secure minimum of 50% (45% for SC/ST)marks in the written exam shall only be called for Interview. During interview, a candidate is required to indicate area of research.
  • Every admitted candidate shall have to do course work for a minimum of one semester. The course work shall include at least three courses, namely, a course on research methodology (may include quantitative methods and computer Applications) or a course proposed by the Admission Committee (for those who have studied a similar course on Research Methodology at PG level), a professional course (if not offered by any Department/ School, its syllabus to be proposed by the allocated supervisor and approved by DoAA) and a seminar (Relevant in the area of research). Minimum credits for the course work shall be 11 including a seminar of 4 credits. The process of registration in the course work, examination, evaluation and grading shall be same as followed for UG/PG programmes.

Relaxation for appearing in the Entrance Test may be given by the University to those candidates who have qualified GATE/NET(UGC/CSIR).
