Biography

Vinod K Bhalla is an Associate Professor in the Computer Science and Engineering Department at Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala. He is equipped with B.E in Computer Sc., M.E in Software Engineering, Diploma in Management and PhD. Degree with major as computer science at Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology. He has 16 years of teaching and 7 years of Research and Development experience. He joined Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology in October, 2001 as lecturer and was elevated to position of Asst Professor in 2008. Prior to joining TIET, he served India’s leading corporate research centre as Research Engineer Software for almost 7 years. He is an IBM certified DB2 and Web Sphere Application developer. He is also Brain Bench Certified C++ Engineer. He guided many ME thesis and BE/MCA projects. He has taught numerous courses namely Software Engineering, Software Project Management, Software Design and Construction, Object Oriented Programming, Software Quality Management.

He was also member of various committees constituted by the higher authorities. Along with primary job of teaching and research he handled many administrative responsibilities. Presently he is acting as coordinator six week industrial summer training and Vice President creative computing society (CCS), TIET.

Description of Research Interests

His present research interests are in the field of software engineering and next generation world wide web. He is focused on developing and improving the technologies and techniques related to semantic web with the help of machine learning algorithms and tools. He is also interested in software engineering field to bring improvements in the area of software metrics, software design and construction and software quality improvement.
